Discussants

This panel brings together leading researchers in international security theory to explore key trends in the contemporary study of security in international relations. Drawing on their expertise in the development of contemporary concepts and fields of research, the panellists will discuss ontological security (Steele), ecological security (McDonald), nonviolent security (Jackson), feminist security (Lee-Koo) and cosmopolitan security (Burke). While introducing these fields of research and their approach to them, each contributor will also be asked to reflect on what is at stake in debates about that issue area of field of research, and likely key trends in that area. In the process the panel will enable a broader reflection on trends in the study of international security and their relationship to changing dynamics of world politics.
