The panel is devoted to elections as one of the most important political processes. The panel considers different issues related to and associated with elections such as conduct of free and fair and elections in developing countries and emerging democracies; party motivations and ideologies; election cycles; role of new information and communication technologies in elections; party dynamics; role of minority parties; gender and elections. Apart from the broad scope of aspects of electoral process, the panel has also quite broad geography including Taiwan, Mongolia, South Korea, Mexico, Nepal, Australia and the Arab World. The panel hence provide insights on the electoral process in different types of countries and societies with political systems varying from established democracies to electoral autocracies.
